OceansLIVE host Kate Thompson with Congresswoman Ileana Ross-Lehtinen.
OceansLIVE! brings the ocean to communities nationwide through a multi-media approach highlighting ocean topics occurring across the globe. Watch live as researcher study our oceans, hear first hand accounts from explorers, and listen in as filmmakers share their inspiration. Events are broadcast from the ground giving you the opportunity to interact with experts in the field working to better understand the ocean that surrounds us.
From research vessels, to rocky intertidal areas, to undersea habitats, and education productions - this program works to help everyone from California to Iowa, from Michigan to Florida better understand the oceans impact on them and their impact on the ocean.
OceansLIVE is a partnership between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, and the University of Rhode Island's Inner Space Center.
How it works:
Web-based technology links people real-time to scientists, educators, and others engaged in active marine research. OceansLIVE! gives people the ability to participate in current science, policy and entertainment by connecting them LIVE to NOAA and Inner Space Center expeditions and events underway in locations around the globe.
OceansLIVE productions are shown live but can also be viewed after the event through our collection of archived shows allowing everyone to experience past live programming.
